Given that the ratio of molecular weight of Hydrogen and Oxygen in water is 1:8

Let the amount of hydrogen be x and the amount of oxygen be y

Given that x:y=1:8

xy=18

y=8x -------(1)

Given that oxygen is 12gm

Therefore, the amount of hydrogen is 12=8x
x=128
x=32

Given the quantity of hydrogen =32gm

So, the quantity of oxygen is y=8×32

y=256gms
