Solution

The reaction CaCO3(g)CaO(s)+CO2(g) would proceed to completion if the reaction vessel is connected to bottle containing KOH solution or carried out in open vessel. This is an equilibrium reaction.

If one of the products is continuously removed from the reaction mixture as soon as it is formed, more and more of the reactants will participate in the reaction till the limiting reactant is completely consumed. In the above reaction, the CO2 gas is either removed by carrying out the reaction in the open vessel so that entire CO2 escapes in the atmosphere or the CO2 is dissolved in KOH solution, thus it is removed from the equilibrium mixture. Due to this, the reaction goes to completion.
