Polysomes are multiple ribosomes attached to the mRNA bearing nascent growing polypeptide chains. All the ribosomes of a polysome translate single mRNA and produce many polypeptides simultaneously from a single mRNA. Ribosomes are the cellular organelles, composed of rRNA and proteins. They are present free in the cytoplasm before they become attached to mRNA. Hence, ribosomes contain not only amino acids but also ribonucleotide chain in form of RNA.
