The shape of a garden is rectangular in the middle and semi circular at the ends as shown in figure. Find the area and the perimeter of this garden [Length of rectangle is $20-(3.5+3.5)$ metres].

Given:

$\Rightarrow D=7m$

$\therefore R=3.5m$

$\Rightarrow$ Combined circumference of semi circles $=2\pi R=2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 3.5=22$ m

⇒ Length of rectangle formed$=20-3.5-3.5=13$

⇒Perimeter of garden $=13+22+13=48$ m

Area of garden

$=(7\times 13)+\frac{(2\times 3.14\times {3.5}^2)}{2}$

$=129.465m^2$
