The shape of a garden is rectangular in the middle and semi circular at the ends as shown in the diagram. Find the area and the perimeter of this garden. [Length of rectangle is 20(3.5+3.5)metres].

Length of rectangle=20(3.5+3.5)

=13m

Area of the rectangle portion=length× breadth

=13×7

=91m2

Area of semicircular portion=πr2

=227×3.52

=38.5m2

Area of whole garden=91+38.5=129.5m2

Perimeter of rectangle=2(13+7)

=40m

Perimeter of semicircular portion=(2×227×3.5)

=22m

Perimeter of garden=40+22=62m
