Subclavian artery

On the left side of the body, the subclavian originates directly from the arch of the aorta. On the right side of the body, the subclavian arises from the brachiocephalic artery. This brachiocephalic artery bifurcates into the subclavian and the right common carotid artery. The subclavian arteries are asymmetrically paired arteries that supply blood to the posterior cerebral circulation, cerebellum, posterior neck, upper limbs and the superior and anterior chest wall. They receive blood from the aortic arch.
