The sides of a triangle are 5 cm, 12 cm and 13 cm respectively. The length of the shortest altitude is=

Open in App
Solution

Shortest altitude can be drawn to largest side.13 cm side.so find that altitude

Area Of Triangle = Square Root Of (S(S-A)(S-B)(S-C))

Now S = 5+12+13/2 = 15

Now Simply

Area = Square Root Of (15*10*3*2)

Area = Square Root Of (900)

Area = 30

Now Area Of Triangle = 1/2*Base*Height

Now Base = 13

Now

1/2*13*Height = 30

13*Height = 60

Height = 60/13 = 4.61 cm
