Solution

The correct option is D Rs.5000
Compound interest for 2 years=Rs.832
Simple interest for 3 years=Rs.1200
As simple interest for each year remains the same.
So, simple interest for 2 years=1200×23=Rs.800
We know that,
CI2 yearSI2 year=SI2 year×R200=PR2(100)2
832800=800×R200
32=4×R
R=8%
Again, CI2 yearSI2 year=PR2(100)2
32=P×(8)21002
32=P×6410000
P=3264×10000=5000
Hence, the principal is Rs.5000.
