If charge q is given to a conductor and due to this its potential increases by V, then capacitance of conductor is:
C=q/V=coulomb/volt
1 coulomb/volt is called farad(F) ,which is the S.I. unit of capacitance. A conductor's capacitance is 1 farad, if electric charge of 1 coulomb increases the potential of conductor through 1 volt.
