Solution

Swaminathan felt at perfect peace with the world because finally Mani and Rajam had resolvd their fight and now, Swaminathan no longer needed to act as a mediator. He was tired of becoming a message between Mani and Rajam. Also, now, he would not have to help Mani in killing Rajam. He was too scared to do that.
