Assume the two numbers be x and y.
x + y = 50
x - y = 16.
If you add both these equations,y will get eliminated.
x + y + x - y = 50 + 16 = 66
2x = 66 or x = 33.
Therefore, y = 50 - 33 = 17.
Hence the 2 numbers are 33 and 17.
