The taxi charges in a city comprise of a fixed charge together with the charge for the distance covered. For a journey of $10km$ the charge paid is $Rs.75$ and for a journey of $15km$ the charge paid is $Rs.110$. What will a person have to pay for travelling a distance of $25km$?

Let the fixed charges of taxi be Rs x and the running charges be Rs y km/hr.

According to the given condition, we have $0$
$x+10y=75$ .(i)
$x+15y=110$ .(ii)

Subtracting equation (ii) from equation (i), we get
$-5y=-35\Rightarrow y=7$

Putting $y=7$ in equation (i), we get $x=5$

$\therefore$ Total charges from travelling a distance of $25$km
$=x+25y$
$=Rs.(5+25\times 7)=Rs.180$.
