Linnaeus gave the first pattern for taxonomic hierarchy.

Linnaeus in his book Systema Naturae proposed that there were basically three broad groups i.e. Animals, Plants and Minerals.

He divided each kingdom into classes adn further into orders. Orders are further divided into genera later into species. Linnaeus did not represent Kingdom, Phylum and Family.
