Time period of a satellite orbiting around the earth is given by,
T=2π(R+h)3gR2Where,
g=acceleration due to gravity =9.8 ms2
R=Radius of the Earth=6.3×106 m,

Height of the polar satellite above earth surface lies in between 500 to 900 km, so the average value,
h=700 km

Substituting the values in the above equation,

T=2π (6.3×106+700×103)39.8×(6.3×106)2
T=5894.29 sec

T=5894.2960=98.3100 min

Thus, time period of polar satellites is about 100 minutes
