Solution

The correct option is B

two

The water molecule consists of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The number of valence electron in oxygen is six and in hydrogen is one. In order to form a stable water molecule the oxygen will share its electrons with two hydrogen atoms and vice versa.

The oxygen will share one electron with each hydrogen atom and each hydrogen atom will share one electron with oxygen atom. A pair of shared electrons is said to constitute a single bond so two single bonds will form between hydrogen and oxygen.
