Solution
The correct option is A Second Trophic levels :
Trophic levels (T) represent the nutritional status of an organism in the food chain. The food chain representing the various trophic levels are as follows:-
Producers (T1) → Primary consumers (T2) → Secondary consumers (T3)→ Tertiary consumers (T4)
Trophic level 1(T1)- Producers are present in trophic level one of the food chain. They contain light trapping pigments and thus perform photosynthesis. They are the starting point of the food chain.
Trophic level 2 (T2)- The primary consumers form the second level of the food chain. Nutrients are passed to them from the producers as they feed on the plants or producers.
Trophic level 3 (T3)- The secondary consumer forms the third level of the food chain, feeding on the primary consumers.
Trophic level 4 (T4)- The tertiary consumer is placed on trophic level 4 as these organisms feed on secondary consumers, deriving energy from them.
Trophic level of herbivore :
Herbivores are primary consumers as they feed on the producers. Hence, herbivores belong to the second trophic level (T2).
