Solution

The correct option is A Second
Trophic levels :
Trophic levels (T) represent the nutritional status of an organism in the food chain. The food chain representing the various trophic levels are as follows:-
Producers (T1) → Primary consumers (T2) → Secondary consumers (T3)→ Tertiary consumers (T4)
  • Trophic level 1(T1)- Producers are present in trophic level one of the food chain. They contain light trapping pigments and thus perform photosynthesis. They are the starting point of the food chain.
  • Trophic level 2 (T2)- The primary consumers form the second level of the food chain. Nutrients are passed to them from the producers as they feed on the plants or producers.
  • Trophic level 3 (T3)- The secondary consumer forms the third level of the food chain, feeding on the primary consumers.
  • Trophic level 4 (T4)- The tertiary consumer is placed on trophic level 4 as these organisms feed on secondary consumers, deriving energy from them.
Trophic level of herbivore :
Herbivores are primary consumers as they feed on the producers. Hence, herbivores belong to the second trophic level (T2).
