Solution

Electronic configuration — The distribution of an electron in a given shell or orbitals is considered an electronic configuration

  • It also predicts whether the element is metal,non-metal, metalloids, and a noble gas.
  • It is based on atomic numbers.
  • Electronic configuration of the given element{K] is 2,8,8,1.

Chlorides — when any metal reacts with a chlorine atom then it forms chlorides

  • When potassium reacts with chlorine forms potassium chloride i.e, KCl.

Oxides — when any metal reacts with an oxygen atom then it forms oxides

  • When potassium reacts with oxygen forms potassium oxide i.e, K2O.

Thus, electronic configuration K- 2,8,8,1, and their chloride formula is KCl, and their oxides formula is K2O.
