Question

The weather department has predicted that a thunderstorm is likely to occur on a certain day. Suppose you have to go out on that day. Would you carry an umbrella? Explain.

Solution

No, it is strictly not advisable to carry an umbrella in a thunderstorm. This is because thunderstorms are said to occur with lightning.
Thus, the electrical charges which tend to discharge from the clouds can travel by the metallic rod of the holder of the umbrella if the lightning strikes on it and can give an electric shock to the person who is carrying it.
