Question

The weight of 1 litre sample of ozonised oxygen at NTP was found to be 1.5 g. When 100 ml, of the mixture at NTP were treated with turpentine oil, the volume wall reduced to 90 nil Hence, calculate the molecular weight, ozone.

Open in App
Solution

Volume of ozone:
= volume absorbed in turpentine oil
=10mL
Volume of 100mL mixture =90mL
Mass of 100mL mixture = =1022400×M+9022400×32
=0.15
On solving, we get M=48
Molecular mass of ozone =48
