The correct option is A 0.5N
When a body is partly or completely immersed in water (or any other liquid), then:
Loss in weight of body = Weight of water (liquid) displaced by the body = Buoyant force or upthrust exerted by water (any liquid) on the body.
In this case, the weight of the block in air is 5N and the weight of the block in water is 4.5N.
The loss in weight of the body =0.5N= Buoyant force.
Hence, the buoyant force acting on the block is 0.5 N.
