There are 1650 students in a college. The difference between the number of boys and girls in the college is 400. What is the percentage of girls in the college ?

Let B be the no. of boys and G be the no. of girls than $B+G=1650$ ______ (1)

$B-G=400$ ______ (2) (given)

$\therefore \left(1\right)+\left(2\right)\Rightarrow 2B=2050\Rightarrow B=1025$

Substituting B=1025 in (1) $\Rightarrow G=1650-1025$

$G=625$

$\therefore$ % of girls = $\frac{No.ofgirls}{Totalno.ofstudents}$

$\frac{625\times 100}{1650}=38$%(approx)
