There are 24 girls and 36 boys in a class. What is the ratio of the number of girls to the number of boys in the class?

Step 1: To find out the ratio of number of girls to the total number of students in the class.

Given number of girls in the class =24

Number of boys in the class =36

Total number of students in the class =24 + 36

=60

Step 2: Now write the ratio of number of girls to the number of boys in the class

Required Ratio=24:36

Step 3: Convert ratio into fraction and write it into its simplest form

24:36 can be written as

=2436,divide the numerator and denominator by 12

=24/1236/12

=23

Step 4:Convert fraction into ratio

Required ratio=2:3

Hence, the ratio of number of girls to the number of boys in the class is 2:3
