Let the number of passengers having ticket worth ₹ 3, is $x$

Then the passengers having ticket worth ₹10, is $(40 - x) .$

Then,
$3 x + 10 \times (40 - x) = 295 3 x + 400 - 10 x = 295 - 7 x = 295 - 400 - 7 x = - 105 x = \frac{- 105}{- 7} x = 15.$

$∴$ Number of passengers with tickets worth ₹ 3 = 15.
