There are 40 pieces of building blocks in a bag.

10 each of blue, green, red, and yellow.

Two pieces are chosen at random.

Identify the probability that both of the pieces chosen are green.

Finding the required probability:

Given,

Total building blocks are 40

Number of red blocks = Number of green blocks =Number of blue blocks =Number of yellow blocks =10

Therefore, the probability of choosing the first green block is,

P(green)=NumberofgreenblocksTotalblocks=1040

When choosing the second green block, the probability is

P(green)=NumberofremaininggreenblocksTotalremainingblocks=939

Therefore, the required probability of choosing two green blocks is,

P(GG)=1040×939=352

Hence, the probability that both of the pieces chosen are green is 352.
