Present Ratio = 6 : 8 $\Rightarrow$ 3 : 4

Let the new number of girls be $x$
It is given, the ratio of number of boys to the number of girls after girls have been added is 1 : 2

$\Rightarrow$ 6 : x :: 1 : 2
$\Rightarrow$ $\frac{6}{x}=\frac{1}{2}$
$x=12$
Therefore, the new number of girls = 12

$\Rightarrow$ The number of new girls added = 12 - 8 = 4
