Solution

Say: We have to read the given picture table and identify the number of flowers each symbol represents. Also we have to find out the number of lilies and tulips.

Steps:
- In the given picture table, there are three different types of flowers - lilies, tulips, and roses.
- The number of each type of flower is represented with the help of a symbol.
- 5 symbols are used to represent lilies, 3 to represent tulips, and 8 to represent roses.
- It is given that there are 80 roses in total.
- So, we have to identify the number which when added 8 times, gives 80 as the total.
- 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 80
- Therefore, we can say that each symbol represents 10 flowers.
- So, number of lilies: 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 50
- Number of tulips: 10 + 10 + 10 = 30
- Hence, option B is the correct answer.

Probing Question:
Q. If there are 40 roses in total, can you tell me how many flowers each symbol would represent?
A: We have to identify the number, which when added 8 times gives 40 as the total. 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 40 So, we can say that each symbol will represent 5 flowers.
