Part (i)

  1. The above diagram shows the female reproductive system after the formation of the zygote.
  2. The right ovary produces an ovum.
  3. The oviducal funnel collects the ovum from the ovary to the oviduct.
  4. The uterus is the site for the implantation of the embryo.
  5. Amnion provides protection to the fetus.
  6. The placenta is the vital connection between mother and fetus.
  7. Cervix and vagina function mainly during the birth of the fetus.

Part (ii)

  1. Placenta serves for the exchange of respiratory gases, nutrients, and other excretory products between the mother and the fetus.
  2. Amniotic fluid protects the fetus from shocks and mechanical jerks.

Part (iii)

  1. X is the oviduct or the fallopian tube where fertilization between sperm and ovum takes place.
