Let the cost of a chair be x and that of a table be y

3x + 2y = 1850 multiplying by 3

9x + 6y = 5550 ----------(1)

5x+ 3y = 2850 multiplying by 2

10x + 6y = 5700 ----------(2)

Equation (2) – (1) gives

x = 150 & y = 700

Hence x + y = 850
