Question

Three incandescent bulb of 100 W each are connected in series in a circuit. In another circuit, another set of threee bulbs of the same wattage are connected in parallel to the same source. Will the bulb in the two circuits glow with the same brightness? Justify your answer.

Solution

No. the bulb in both the circuits will not glow with same brigtness because the voltage flowing through the series combination gets distributed among the three bulbs and even we know that in series combination the equivalent resistance is more as a result of which it will resist current. as a result the brightness in series will be less as compare to parallel.
