Three metals X,Y,Z have standard electrode potential values of 0.34 V, 1.2 V and -0.8 V respectively. Comment on their relative tendencies to undergo the respective electrode reactions. How do you account for that?

Solution
Y gains electrons and gets reduced with both X and Z so it has the negative electrode potential while X,Z got oxidized by gaining the electrons so they have positive values of electrode potential.
