below. If the main current is 2.2A find

(a) the potential difference between P and Q

(b) the current in each of the resistances. [3 MARKS]

Step 1: For parallel circuit, 1Req=1R1+1R2+1R3

1Req=1+12+13

Req=611Ω

Step 2: Potential difference across PQ=611×2.2=1.2 V

Step 3: Current through 1Ω resistance =VR1=1.2 A

Current through 2Ω resistance= VR2=0.6 A

Current through 3Ω resistance =VR3=0.4 A
