Question

To shift the lab from first orbit to the second orbit.(R=6400km, g=10m/s2)

Open in App
Solution

Energy of lab in an orbit is

E=12m(GMr)2GMmr=GMm2r

Hence, energy required would be equal to the change i total energy,

ΔE=GMm2(3R)+GMm2(2R)=GMm12R=112gmR=112×9.8×2000×6400000=1.67×1010J

Answer is 1.67×1010J.
