Reaction of Toluene with Chromyl Chloride :

  • Chromyl Chloride CrO2Cl2 is an inorganic compound.
  • Toluene being a cyclic organic compound has a chemical formula of C7H8.

  • When toluene reacts with Chromyl Chloride in the presence of Carbon Disulfide CS2, it forms a Brown Chromium complex which on hydrolysis gives Benzaldehyde C7H6O.
