Given :ABCBDC

The ratio of corresponding sides of similar triangles are equal. Hence,

ABBD=ACBC

i.e.,12BD=AC16

Using Pythagoras theorem,

we haveAC=BC2+AB2 = 162+122=400=20 units

Now, 12BD=2016

BD=12×1620

BD=9.6 units
