Since TSH is produced in response to the thyroxine levels in the body. When the thyroxine level in the body is higher, then the TSH is less and when thyroxine level in the body is lesser, TSH is more. Therefore, when the thyroid is removed, after 8 days, there is no thyroxine in the body and hence, the pituitary makes more TSH in response to no thyroxine.
