Tungsten metal is used to make a solenoid type coil in an electric bulb

It's because tungsten has a high melting point, high resistivity. As current passes through the coil of blub, the coil gets heated up and glow. it's cheaper and also good conductor of heat and electricity which probably helps in glowing of light.
