Let $x$ be the units of works per man day.

$\therefore$ Total work$=12\times 8=96$ units of works.

After 6 days, $12\times 6=7$ units of work will be completed.

Hence, the remaining work$=96-72=24$

Now, more days required to complete the work by 16 men will be $=\frac{24}{16}=1.5$ days.
