Two angles are in the ratio 4: 7. On increasing the first angle by 100∘ the ratio changes to 2:1. Find the value of the second angle.
70∘
Given: The ratio of angles initially = 4: 7
∴ Let the angles be 4x and 7x.
Increasing the first angle by 100∘, we get
⇒ 4x + 100∘
Now the ratio is 2:1
∴ Now let the angles be 2y and y
⇒ y = 7x-------(1) (∵ Both are the values of the second angle)
and 2y = 4x + 100∘-------(2) (∵ Both are the values of the first angle)
Now substituting the value of y in (2) we get
14x = 4x + 100∘
⇒ 10x = 100∘
⇒ x = 10∘
∴ The value of thre second angle = 7x
= 70∘
