Question

Two blocks of mass m1 and m2 are placed on a horizontal smooth surface. There are n different blocks placed between the two blocks as shown in figure. Block m1 is given a speed v. Find the maximum possible speed of mass m2. (All the collisions are perfectly elastic)

Solution

If m2 velocity maximum then the block between the m1 and m2 masses should be m1. Then, velocity v is transfer to last nth block.
After collision of nth mass the the m2
Velocity of m2 will be v2
v2=2m1(m1+m2)v
