Solution

The correct option is B

2:1

Given data:

Mass of the body A is mA=4kg

Mass of the body A is mB=16kg

Finding the ratio of the velocity of the body A and B

1. Kinetic energy is the energy that is possessed by the body when the body is in motion.

2. Mathematically we can see that,

Kineticenergy=12xmassx(velocity)2

(Velocity)2=2xKineticenergymass

Velocity=2xKineticenergymass

V=2xK.Em

3. For body A,

VA=2xK.EAmA………(1)

4. For body B,

VB=2xK.EBmB………(2)

5. Dividing the equations (1) by (2) we get,

VAVB=2xK.EAmA2xK.EBmB

6. Since kinetic energy o body, A and B are given equal i.e K.EA = K.EB = K.E

Where VA and VB are the velocities of body A and B,

VAVB=2xK.E4kg2xK.E16kg=16kg4kg=41=21

Thus, the ratio of the velocity of A and B is 2:1.

Hence, option (B) is correct.
