The correct option is A $20$ miles
On connecting the final position of both the cars, we get two right angled triangles and the length of line represents the distance between them.

Distance $=$ Sum of hypotenuse of both triangles
Both triangles are congruent and sides equal to $8$ and $6$ respectively.

$∴$ Distance between the two cars $= 2 \sqrt{8^{2} + 6^{2}} = 20$ miles
