Solution

The maximum capacity of a container that can be used to measure the milk in each of the containers an exact number of times in litres would be the HCF of the capacity of the two containers,

HCF of 70 and 175

Prime factorization of 70

Prime Factorization of 175

So 70=2×5×7175=5×5×7

Thus HCF=5×7=35

Hence, the maximum capacity of container can be used is 35litres.
