Two cross road each of width 10m cut at right angles through the centre of a rectangular park of length 700m and breadth 300m and parallel to its sides .find the area of the roads.also find the area of the park excluding the crossroads in hectares.

area of park =$700\times 300=210000m^2$
If we take the horizontal road as road 1, its breadth is 10m and length is 700m. So its area is $10\times 700=7000m^2$
If we take the vertical road 2, its breadth is 10m and length is 300m. so its area is $10\times 300=3000m^2$
There is a small square at the centre caused by the intersection of the roads. lenght of its side is 10m, its area is $10\times 10=100m^2$
total area of roads =area of road 1 +area of road 2 -area of the small square at the centre.7000 +3000 -100=10000-100
$=9900m^2$
area of park excluding crossroads =area of park -area of roads
$210000-9900=200100m^2$
$200100m^2$ in hectares:
i hectare =$10000m^2$.
$1m^2=\frac{1}{10000}$ hectare.
$200100m^2=\frac{200100}{10000}$ hectare
that is equal to 20.01 hectare.
