Two elements C and D combine to form two compounds CxDy and CyDx. 0.5 mol of CyDx weigh 40 g and 1 molecule of CxDy weigh 1.66×1025 kg. The atomic weight of C and D are 20 and 40 respectively. Find the value of x and y respectively.

The correct option is C 1,2
weight of 1 molecule of CxDy = 1.66×1025 kg
So, weight of 1 mole of CxDy = 1.66×1025×NA kg = 100 g
For CxDy = 20x + 40y = 100 ....(1)
1 mol of CyDx weigh 80 g
For CyDx = 40x + 20y = 80 .....(2)
On solving, x = 1 and y = 2
