Solution

Let us convert the lengths of the chalks into cm.

We know that,
1 cm = 10 mm
So,
1 mm = 110cm

Length of chalk with first friend = 5 cm 6 mm
6 mm = 610 cm
= 6 cm ÷ 10
= 0.6 cm
Length of chalk with first friend = 5 cm + 6 mm
= 5 cm + 0.6 cm
= 5.6 cm
Length of chalk with second friend = 5.6 cm

Thus, both the friends have chalks of same length.
