The correct option is A $2.5 {m s}^{- 2}$
As the pulley is frictionless so the magnitude of the acceleration both masses are equal.

From FBD,

For $m_{1} : m_{1} a = m_{1} g - T . . . (1)$

For $m_{2} : m_{2} a = T - m_{2} g . . . (2)$

$(1) + (2)$

$a (m_{1} + m_{2}) = g (m_{1} - m_{2})$

or $a = \frac{m_{1} - m_{2}}{m_{1} + m_{2}} g = \frac{10 - 6}{10 + 6} 10 = 2.5 m / s^{2}$
