Solution

The correct option is B both (a) and (b) are wrong
Speed of sound vsound=300m/s
Frequency of source f=300Hz
Velocity of A vA=30m/s
Let apparent frequencies heard by B and A be f and f′′ respectively.
Doppler effect when source (A) moves towards the stationary observer (B):
Apparent frequency heard by B f=f[vsoundvsoundvsource]=300[30030030]=333.3Hz
Thus beat frequency by B bB=ff=333.3300=33.3Hz
Doppler effect when observer (A) moves towards the stationary source (B):
Apparent frequency heard by A f′′=f[vsound+Vobservervsound]=300[300+30300]=330Hz
Thus beat frequency by A bA=ff=330300=30Hz
Hence both (a) and (b) are wrong.
