The charge q should be negative in nature for keeping the three charges in equilibrium. Also the charge q should be placed between the given charges.
So, only magnitude of charge q is taken into consideration for calculations below:

Here, x is the distance of q from 1 μC charge in meters.

K×4×q(9x)2=K×1×qx2
4x2=(9x)2x=+3 or9

For, x=9 the equilibrium cannot be maintained.

For, x=+3
K×4×192=K×q×1x2q=4(x9)2q=49 μC

q=49 μC
