Solution

two cross roads each of width 10m cut at right angles trough the centre of a rectangular park of length 700m and breadth 300m and parallel to its sides find the area of roads also find the area of the park excluding cross roads give answer in hectare

area of park= 700x300 =210000m2

if we take the horizontal road as road 1, its breadth is 10m and length is 700m.so its area is 10x700=7000m2

if we take the vertical road as road 2,its breadth is 10m and length is 300m.so its area is 10x300=3000m2

there is a small square at the centre caused by the intersection of the roads.lenght of its side is 10m.its area is 10x10=100m2

total area of roads=area of road 1+area of road 2-area of the small square at the centre.

7000+3000-100= 10000-100

=9900m2

area of park excluding crossroads= area of park-area of roads

210000-9900= 200100m2

200100m2 in hectares:

i hectare=10000m2.

1 m2= 1/10000 hectare.

200100 m2= 200100/10000 hectare

that is equal to 20.01 hectare.
