The correct option is C 180 cm
1 m=100 cm
1.5 m=1.5×100 cm=150 cm

So, the total length of the thread is 150 + 50 = 200 cm.

When 20 cm is cut out, the length of the remaining thread is 200 - 20 = 180 cm.
